Parking spaces are in hot demand, especially in cities. Anyone who operates a parking facility or a parking lot has a great interest in ensuring that their parking services are well used. For this to happen, however, the service must also be right. Above all, this means that drivers must be guided directly to a free parking space.
LTS AG has developed the optimal solution: the smart traffic and parking management system TAPS. The modern technology not only ensures that it is always clear whether a parking space is free or occupied. It can also be used to guide cars specifically to free parking spaces.
How does TAPS improve parking services?
TAPS includes three components, namely sensors, gateways and the software. The TAPS Sensoren are embedded in the ground and then detect whether or not there is a vehicle above them. They do this with a minimum detection level of 99 percent.
Ein TAPS Sensor hat einen Durchmesser von gerade einmal 15.5 Zentimetern und eine Tiefe von 4.6 Zentimetern. Diese überschaubaren Dimensionen machen es überaus leicht, ihn zu installieren. Es ist nur eine Bohrung notwendig, nach rund 30 Minuten ist der Vorgang üblicherweise abgeschlossen.
Dazu kommt, dass keine Kabel verlegt werden müssen. Denn der Sensor ist energieautark und überträgt seine Daten kabellos. Auch Updates geschehen Over the Air (OTA). Im Vergleich zu Induktionsschleifen, die in ihrer Tätigkeit mit TAPS vergleichbar sind, ist die Installation also deutlich einfacher.
The data that the sensors capture is sent in real time to a TAPS Gateway. This then forwards the data to the infrastructure that the customer wants - such as a server or the cloud. Transmission can take place via various interfaces, including LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and Ethernet possible.
The collected data is managed with the TAPS Software. Its main purpose is to monitor the parking lots and analyze the information. In addition, it is also able to significantly simplify parking services.
For what types of parking spaces can TAPS be used?
TAPS can be used on the following types of parking facilities:

The possibilities for expanding and refining parking lot services with TAPS are thus manifold.
What parking lot services does TAPS make more convenient?
As mentioned earlier, TAPS can be used to target parking search traffic. This is usually done with dynamic display panels. On the street, they show how many free parking spaces are currently available in a facility or parking garage. In the facility itself, they indicate which spaces are actually free or occupied.
Drivers are used to the following procedure. If the light above or next to the parking space is green, then the parking space is free. If, on the other hand, the light is red, the driver must look for another parking space. In this way, rows in which there are exclusively occupied parking spaces are directly avoided. This reduces search traffic.
The TAPS software also integrates the possibility of reserving parking spaces in advance or paying for them remotely. If the technical requirements are available, this is a useful addition to the parking services.
Because TAPS always detects whether a parking space is occupied, the system can also be used to control standing time. This is extremely useful for paid parking spaces. If a car is parked longer than the driver has paid for, it is a nuisance. Thanks to TAPS, law enforcement officers can be called promptly or the car can even be towed away.
This will free up the parking space again for users who are willing to pay the required amount for the service.
Company and customer parking
Unternehmen mit einer grossen Anzahl an Mitarbeitern haben auch grosse Parkplätze. Damit es darauf nicht zu Staus und anderen Problemen kommt, lässt sich der Suchverkehr per TAPS regeln. Somit kommen die Angestellten pünktlich und weniger gestresst an ihren Arbeitsplatz.
Hat eine Firma viel Kundenverkehr, dann verfügt sie idealerweise über einen Kundenparkplatz. Auch dort sind Parkplatz Dienstleistungen wie das gezielte Führen zu freien Stellplätzen gerne gesehen.
Shared parking and residential parking
Zu den Parkplatz Dienstleistungen, die zunehmend an Beliebtheit gewinnen, zählt das gemeinsame Parken. Dabei zahlen mehrere Personen für die Nutzung eines Parkplatzes und teilen sich diesen dann. Damit das Shared Parking reibungslos abläuft, kann TAPS eingesetzt werden. Auch der Verhinderung von unbefugtem Parken kann das System dienen.
